Benefits of Carrier Oils

Here are the properties of the most common carrier oils in home made recipes. This is useful in particular if you are creating a skin care product, as you can chose an oil that is well adapted to your skin type: normal, dry, sensitive, oily, mature, etc.

 

  • ALMOND (SWEET) Prunus dulcis

Regenerating and moisturising, good for body, hair and sun care formulas

Recommended for: dry and sensitive skin

Rich in oleic acid

 

  • APRICOT KERNEL Prunus armeniaca

Skin moisturizing and repairing

Recommended for: mature and dry skin

Rich in oleic acid, linoleic acid (Omega 6)

 

 

  • ARGAN Argania spinosa

Also nicknamed 'Moroccan oil', it has skin repairing, nourishing and hair fortifying properties. It is also good for sun care formulas.

Recommended for : oily skin

Rich in oleic acid, linoleic acid (Omega 6), vitamin E

 

  • COCONUT Cocos nucifera

Moisturising and softening, soothing.

Recommended for: all skin types

Rich in lauric acid and other saturated fatty acids
